ABOUT MUSKAAN

"Muskaan" is an initiative by Family Health And Education (FHE) India, located in the heart of Hauz Khas Village. Our multifaceted center serves as a hub for numerous projects and activities dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in the Hauz Khas Village slums, with a special emphasis on empowering women and children.

Our core mission is to uplift and empower women, equipping them with essential life skills to ensure their self-sustainability. We believe that by empowering women, we create a ripple effect of positive change in the entire community.

This transformative journey began in 2008 with just around 20 girls and one dedicated teacher. The exceptional 100% exam success rate achieved by our girls during the initial years served as a powerful catalyst. This outstanding achievement not only motivated the parents of other children in the village but also garnered community support.

As a result, the Muskaan project has grown significantly over the years, impacting the lives of more than 210 children from underprivileged backgrounds. Furthermore, 15 talented students from our program are currently pursuing higher education at the university level, breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to a brighter future.

Our Journey

Our journey began in 2008 with a heartfelt mission to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged girls in Hauz Khas Village. Back then, we faced the challenge of not having a dedicated center for our educational and empowerment activities. Our dedicated team of educators and volunteers conducted classes and activities in public places like parks, tirelessly reaching out to girls in the slum areas.

Fast forward to today, we are proud to have our very own center, a hub of learning and creativity. This center serves as a nurturing space where we provide regular education to girls and engage in a wide array of creative activities.

Our dedication and hard work bore fruit in our early years when we started with approximately 20 girls and a single teacher. The remarkable highlight was the overwhelming 100% exam pass rate achieved by all our girls. This extraordinary achievement not only filled us with pride but also inspired parents in the village to entrust their girls to our care.

When we started out, only 10% of the girls in the village had received education or were attending school. After years of service, we have finally helped every girl in the village to get access to education. Our initiative has changed the perspective of the families regarding a girl child, Now girls are the ones providing for the family, being the most educated in the family and earning respect from the entire society

As a result, our impact has steadily grown, benefiting the lives of more than 210 girls who have passed through our doors. Additionally, 15 of our students are now pursuing higher education at the university level, a testament to the transformative power of education and empowerment.
